Traumaroo
Safety Series
What is the Traumaroo Safety Series?
The Traumaroo Safety Series was
developed by the national office of the American Trauma Society. The series
consists of four segments which include animated videos featuring Troo, the
trauma safety kangaroo. Lessons taught in the video are reinforced with
follow-up activities such as word games, coloring pages, and puzzles. The
program also includes a facilitator's guide, stickers, posters, and certificates
for the program participants.
What topics are covered
in the series?
The four segments include
bicycle safety, playground safety, home safety and how to control anger
when dealing with conflict.
Why
should this program be taught?
Injury is the leading cause
of death and disability in the United States among persons under the age
of 19. Almost all of these injuries are preventable.
Who
would benefit from this program?
The program was designed for
children in grades kindergarten through four. The facilitator guide
makes
it possible for teachers, school
nurses, or volunteers to present the program. This is a fun series of
programs that helps children develop safe behavior patterns that will
become life-long habits.
What topics are
covered by
the Traumaroo Safety Series?
The
four safety segments include bicycle safety, playground safety, home
safety and how to control anger when a friend acts inappropriately.
