National Injury Prevention Day 2026: Prevention in Action

You See It Every Day. Now Help Change It.

Every day, healthcare professionals, first responders, public health professionals, educators, and community leaders see the impact of injuries. They see patients arrive after falls, motor vehicle crashes, firearm injuries, poisonings, and other traumatic events.

National Injury Prevention Day (NIPD) is an opportunity to turn what you see into action.

NIPD brings communities together to raise awareness about preventable injuries, highlight injury prevention efforts, and encourage individuals and organizations to take action to create safer communities.

Prevention Starts Before an Injury Happens

Injury prevention is about more than responding after someone is hurt. It means identifying risks, educating communities, improving environments, and taking action before an injury occurs.

Across Pennsylvania, prevention can take many forms; fall prevention and safe driving to firearm safety, emergency preparedness, child passenger safety, drowning prevention, and bleeding control. No single organization can address every injury risk. Prevention requires collaboration.

Join ATSPA for National Injury Prevention Day

On Wednesday, November 18, 2026, the American Trauma Society, Pennsylvania Division (ATSPA) will host National Injury Prevention Day: Prevention in Action at the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg.

The day will bring together healthcare professionals, first responders, community organizations, injury prevention advocates, policymakers, and members of the public to recognize the importance of injury prevention and encourage action across Pennsylvania.

Take Part in Injury Prevention Advocacy Day

ATSPA is also inviting healthcare professionals, members, partners, and injury prevention advocates to participate in National Injury Prevention Advocacy Day.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet with their legislators and share why injury prevention matters in their communities.

Our message is simple:

You See It Every Day. Now Help Change It.

If you work in healthcare, you see the consequences of injury firsthand.

If you work in public health or community services, you see the risks and challenges affecting your community.

If you are a policymaker, you can help support efforts that make injury prevention possible.

And if you are a community member, you can help create safer homes, roads, workplaces, and neighborhoods.

Everyone has a role in injury prevention.
