Stop the Bleed®
The Stop the Bleed® campaign was initiated by a federal interagency workgroup convened by the National Security Council Staff, The White House. The purpose of the campaign is to build national resilience by better preparing the public to save lives by raising awareness of basic actions to stop life threatening bleeding following everyday emergencies and man-made or natural disasters.
Stop the Bleed Training Kit Loaner Program
ATSPA has three Stop the Bleed® Training Kits available for ATS/ATSPA member institutions to borrow. The kit includes training C-A-T™ tourniquets, QuikClot® Moulage Trainers and Z-Medica Hemorrhage Control Training™ legs.
Please submit your request at least one month in advance of your scheduled Stop the Bleed® training class. Completing the request form does not ensure a training kit will be available. An ATSPA staff member will contact you regarding your request. To request a kit, please click here. All kits must be returned within two weeks of the scheduled class.
Stop the Bleed® Tourniquet Kits
The American Trauma Society, PA Division (ATSPA), again, has STB kits to offer our member institutions. Each member group may receive up to 50 kits per year until supplies are exhausted.
Please note: We have changed the guidelines and procedures for how we offer STB kits. Listed below are the details on how to obtain kits for your upcoming STB training.
Guidelines:
-
Complete one online submission form for each STB training. (Link below.)
-
Request kits at least one month in advance, and allow 2 weeks to receive kits.
-
Do not request kits more than 90 days in advance of the scheduled training.
-
After each STB training, the lead instructor must complete a post-training survey provided by the ATSPA. This survey will detail the class attendees and their professions, highlights from the class, and information regarding the participants' knowledge pre- and post- "Stop the Bleed" education. This post-survey will be sent to you via email.
These kits include:
-
1 - STOP THE BLEED® Instructional booklet
-
1 - C-A-T® tourniquet
-
1 - NAR Wound Packing Gauze
-
1 - Mini Permanent Marker, BLK
-
1 pair - Responder Nitrile Gloves - Large
-
1 - 4 in. Responder Flat Dressing
-
1-7.25 in. Responder Trauma Shears
Members will be limited to 50 STB kits per year. Please be sure to only order the number of kits necessary to support each training, considering who will receive the kits and where they will be placed. The number of kits you request should depend on your audience. Could you request only the number of kits needed to be strategically located on-site?
Please contact Kim Nunemaker at knunemaker@atspa.org if you have any questions.
